Captain Jim Keene wrote "The result this year did not build on our improvements of last year. None the less people are enjoying their games and one or two indicated their result could have easily gone the other way. Alas not in my case!" E denotes players used e-mail and N that players exchanged moves by post. Board strength was devided between the two methods of exchanging moves. Source: Records from John Knee and Ray Collett.

Details. The season opened on the 7th November 2007 and we welcomed a new member Richard Collett from Greenlands Chess Club to the team. This still left one vacancy on Bd. 9 which Carl Forrester of Redditch agreed to fill so he played two games. Worcestershire were out-graded on every board with exception of B1, which was a draw. On other boards the disparity in over-the-board strengths was great, for example Jeffery Fox (119) played S.Ruthen with a rating of 160 and our new member Richard Collett playing on Bd.4, graded 90, was up against Dr Jim Miller (Leics B) graded 155. Although the results on these boards set a precedent for the rest of us, it's no dishonour losing to such opponents. The score of one bright spot, Francis O’Gorman's win, is given here [Opens in new window]. (Ray Collett, based on Tony West’s match report.)
