24 Oct 2023, Round 4. Another good night for the squad with two match wins and a draw. Robin Hayles and Tony Shaw (both Worcester) were able to play tonight in team B and acquited themselves well. That team faced players from the Bishop Aukland CC. Phil Austin`s game on board 2 was a throw back to nineteenth century with an exposed black king and full of tactics. On paper, the Cadets team looked as if they were heading to a defeat against a higher rated Witney, yet came out with a match draw. Witney was led by former Worcester player Matthew Holmes who moved to Oxfordshire.

In Division 4, Worcestershire Wolfpack A won their match against Dundee City F in Division 4 and are fourth in group A: the B team drew their match against The Hemel’s Gambit and are fourth in Group B. The Cadets team in Division 5 beat Irish Jazz and stand second out of 31 teams.

Team B’s match was unusual with both teams defaulting one board each and both were penalised for the no shows. New player, junior Edward Higgs (Worcester) won his first 4NCL match game.

Wolfpack A lost heavily to Lenzie Basilisks, a repeat of last season’s result. The Cadets in Division 5 beat Chess Challengers C. At the end of round 1, Wolfpack A are near the bottom of group A and Wolfpack B are in the middle of Group B. The Cadets in Division 5 are ninth out of 28 teams competing.

17 Jul 2023. The annual meeting of WCA agreed to take over the organisation of the Wolfpack from Worcester City Club and retained the current co-managers Ray Collett and Colin Vernon from Worcester City club.
